The chant
श्री राम रामेति रामेति
रमे रामे मनोरमे।
सहस्रनाम तत्तुल्यम्
रामनाम वरानने॥
Why it works
- Equivalent to reciting the entire Vishnu Sahasranama (1000 divine names) — single utterance carries the spiritual merit of thousand names.
- Purifies the mind and dissolves mental turbulence through the most sattvic (pure) vibration in the mantra tradition.
- Grants complete liberation (moksha) — the Padma Purana explicitly states Rama nama destroys accumulated karma across multiple lifetimes.
- Establishes constant divine companionship and inner peace when practiced as continuous japa throughout daily life.
- Invokes the grace and protection of Rama, the embodiment of dharma, righteousness, and cosmic order.
